Yesterday was very shocking and surreal. I was one of the people who walked out of Manhattan on 911 and even though London is a major city I just wasnt expecting something like that to happen! One of the stations that was bombed was one I go through everday. I missed the bombing by half an hour so to say the least I am happy but a bit shaken. So far we hear 3 bombs on the underground and one bus explosion. The picture of the bus is horrible. Ripped open like a sardine can. You can get a lot of info from www.bbc.co.uk. They are definitely treating this as a terrorist attack. We were told to stay in our buildings and not go out as that was the safest place which was weird for me because on 911 the worst place to be was in a building! Things are slowly getting back to normal. The bus service and most of tube is up and running but I stayed home from work due to flashbacks and nightmares all night. I wanted today to rest and try to get over my anxiety. I am not eager to jump back on the train. Ronny drove into the city last night and picked me up in his company truck. Thousands of people walked home which for me would have been near to impossible as I live so far outside of the city. Our handyman went to one of the stations to head home to Brighton (a 2 hour drive) and it was so packed they had to close it and he had to walk back to the office which was not closeby. He is 64 and has asthma and he walked for 3 hours so we were worried about him. He said he tried to catch a taxi to Gatwick airport and they tried to charge him £140!!! My manager and receptionist where happy as we gave them a ride home. Not easy as two of us sat in the back of the truck which doesnt have seats and is used to transport equipment but we all got home safe and they were grateful to say the least. It was a good opportunity to witness as well. I was witnessing to the receptionist the whole ride to her house. I havent heard about any of our brothers being involved or effected. There arent too many in my congregation that work in the city. An elder from my cong called me right away to make sure me and Ronny were ok which felt good and my email box was flooded. I called my mom who was very relieved and she said her phone was ringing off the hook with people worried about Ronny and I. I want to thank everyone very much for their support. We know these things are going to continue to happen around the world. Having such an amazing spiritual famiy really helps. We have our convention next month and I doubt anything will happen then but Ill keep you all informed.
